The Lizzie Bennet Diaries

Confession: I love Jane Austen, but have NEVER actually read any of her novels.  I've tried to read Emma a few times and just couldn't get into it!  I know, I know.  I'll give the books another chance someday.  For now, I choose to explore her stories through movies and mini series.  One of my favorites happens to be Pride and Prejudice.  I think I enjoy it so much because it's been adapted in some really fun and different ways (check out Bride and Prejudice and Lost in Austen).  My latest P&P obsession is The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.

The LBD is a modern take on Pride and Prejudice told in vlog form.  Oh!  For my librarian/young adult literature loving friends, it was co-created by Hank Green, brother of author John Green.  I'm not usually super into web series, but this one came highly recommended by my bestie.  It does not disappoint!  The series was about 75 episodes in when I started watching, and it only took me a few days to catch up (each episode lasts about 3 to 6 minutes).  Actually I'm kind of bummed that I'm all caught up, because now I have to wait for new episodes to be posted on Mondays and Thursdays. I so look forward to these videos!  The actors do such a wonderful job of capturing the spirit of the characters, especially Laura Spencer (Jane Bennet).  I think she may be my favorite Jane ever.  Anyway.  Enough gushing.  Go and check it out for yourself, and let me know what you think!
