A Visit From Merah

That's right...my bestie came for a visit on Monday!  It was only for the day, but we certainly managed to cram it full of activities!  All photos are courtesy of MaryAnn, because I forgot to take any.  As usual.

I met her at the Metra station in the morning, and we promptly headed off to Navy Pier.  We ran into Dr. Bob Hartley on the way!

Dr. Hartley asks the hard hitting questions.

We walked around the pier for a bit, snacked on some fried dough, and waited for MaryAnn's friend (and now, MY friend!) Amelia.  Amelia was visiting from Albany.  We met up, did a little geochaching, and headed over to The Bean.

A close up of The Bean.  Can you find us?

After we walked around the park for a bit, we decided it was time for lunch.  Off to the nearest Giordano's for deep dish pizza!

Amelia proudly displays her personal pizza.  I had pasta.  When you're a visitor to the city of Chicago, you are required to consume deep dish pizza.  If you live here, you're allowed to have something else, since you have access to it all the time.

After lunch we did a little shopping, and then headed to The Bleeding Heart Bakery for some dessert.

MaryAnn's iced coffee and a (vegan!) chocolate cupcake.  I had a Veruca Salt (vanilla bean cupcake filled with salted caramel), and Amelia had a Red Velvet.  The bakery was decorated in a super fun way, and had little Dr. Who touches here and there.

Amelia was meeting up with friends for dinner, and we parted ways here.  Merah and I headed to my place so we could sit the heck down for a bit before she had to leave.  It was quite a full day.  I was sad to see her go, but hopefully we'll get to hang out again very soon!
