Simple Beach Tote

Or, in my case, pool tote.  I don't live anywhere near the beach.

I found this fabric at a thrift store a few weeks ago, and it just begged to made into something fun and summery.  It wasn't *just* fabric.  It turned out to be a floor length elastic waist skirt with a pretty big black stain on the back.  Luckily I was able to tear it apart and get some useful pieces.  Plus, it was only .25 cents, so I can't complain.

I really like how this bag turned out, it's a great size.  I was able to fit 4 beach towels inside with plenty of room to spare.  I'm thinking of putting together a tutorial for it, although I've never made a tutorial before.  We'll see!  Would anyone be interested?

  1. cute fabric! and congrats on your award :) whoot whoot! I'm gonna have to stop back by to check out the cleaning supply thing, I really need to mix some of that stuff up.

  2. great fabric find! how is the bag lined?

  3. Katie, the bag isn't lined. The seams are just finished and then trimmed (or, if one has a serger, they could just stitch it up that way).
